Artemis

This painting was made for my Drawing III course at Pratt. The assignment was to create something based on an artist whose work we admired, and I chose Rebecca Léveillé Guay. Many of her paintings feature fantastical and ethereal female figures in poses she invents, and I was inspired by the works from her show at the Philippe Labaune Gallery in September, 2024. Using gouache, watercolor, and metallic silver acrylic paint, I made this painting as a response to her work. I based the central character off of the Greek goddess Artemis, and I included elements like the moon and forests to reference her mythology.
