Man-Haters, Masculinity, & The HeForShe Movement
In 2014, Emma Watson Delivered a speech to the UN Assembly to launch HeforShe, a movement aimed at getting men involved in the fight for gender equality. A part of the speech was Watson’s reflection on how some women distances themselves from the label “feminist” because they do not want to be perceived as aggressive and hateful towards men. I found writings by women who defend performative misandry as a part of feminism, and I wanted to contrast them with Watson’s more palatable speech.
This book contains the full transcript of Watson’s speech, interspersed with conflicting opinions of other women, to show that there is no agreed upon definition of feminism.
